This point of view was voiced by the Director of the Center for International Area Studies Kang Jun-young at the expert forum on “Strategic dialogue between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea: Prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation” that took place on December 11 in Tashkent at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the Korean expert, against the backdrop of a lack of trust and growing instability in the world, Central Asia, which maintains an atmosphere of peace, security and mutual understanding on its territory, acts as the most reliable partner.

At the same time, strengthening consolidation and cooperation in the region also helps to increase its attractiveness. This is evidenced by the growing interest of non-regional states in collaboration in the C5+1 format.

Mr. Kang Jun-young noted the presence of substantial untapped potential for developing mutually beneficial cooperation, exchange of experience, and technology between Central Asian countries and South Korea. The expert expressed his conviction that the past expert forum will undoubtedly give additional impetus to the evolution of multilateral cooperation between the six states.

As previously reported, at the expert forum organized by ISRS in partnership with the Center for International Area Studies at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, views were exchanged on the current situation in Central Asia, prospects for further development of economic cooperation, and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian dialogue between the Central Asian countries and the Republic Korea.

From the Korean side, the event was attended by the Director of the Center for International Area Studies Kang Jun-young, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Republic of Korea – Central Asia Cooperation Forum Lee Jong-kook, Secretary to South Korean President for Economic Security Wang Yun-jong, other professors and experts.
